Elections in Faisalabad’s NA-83 and PP-51 are set to be postponed after a candidate running from both the constituencies passed away on Tuesday.
Muhammad Amjad Rabbani was taken to Allied Hospital on Monday after he complained of chest pain. Doctors treating him said that he had suffered a cardiac arrest. He was sent to Shaikh Zayed Hospital in Lahore, where he remained in intensive care unit. Rabbani died on Tuesday from a brain hemorrhage.
Rabbani, 47, a resident of Peoples Colony 1, had worked as a social worker. He was a first-time candidate.
In NA-83 (Faisalabad-IX), he was up against Mian Abdul Manan of Pakistan Muslin League-Nawaz, Faizullah Kamoka of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and Mushtaq Ali Cheema of Pakistan Peoples Party besides 38 other independents.
In PP-51 (Faisalabad-I), he faced Azad Ali Tabassum of PML-N, Ajmal Cheema of PTI and 19 independents.
District Election Commissioner Abid Hussain confirmed that the elections in both the constituencies would be delayed.
