LAHORE:

As many as 11,000 employees of the Lahore Waste Management Company will be deputed in two shifts to ensure cleanliness at polling stations in the city on May 11 (today), the LWMC’s election plan, released on Friday, reads.

The company’s offices will remain open from 7am to 6pm to monitor a clean-up operation throughout the city. Workers of Albayrak and Ozpak, two waste management contractors, will be deputed to help them clean up areas. Disposing of the waste collected in bins and containers at polling stations will be their top priority.

On Friday, all polling stations and surrounding areas were cleaned up.

The LWMC’s operations manager visited the polling stations to check the sanitary conditions at polling stations. LWMC staff will provide voters with waste bags and carry wheelie bins.

The LWMC hotline 1139 has been directed to respond to any complaints regarding waste within two hours. LWMC workers will clean up polling stations after voting ends at 6pm.

LWMC’s communication teams will create awareness among voters about cleanliness. They will visit Metro Bus stations, various traffic junctions and polling camps.

The LWMC MD has announced a two-hour break to allow LWMC workers to cast their votes. Arrangements have been made to ensure that staff can cast their vote.
