Two people were killed and 14 others injured on Sunday in road accidents reported from various parts of the district.
A woman was killed and eight others were injured when a van hit a Qing Qi in Daska’s Maintranwali village.
Rescue officials said that the motorcycle rickshaw was heading towards Jinnah Chowk, when a van hit them in Ghalla Mandi area. The van driver fled.
A woman passenger, later identified as Ruqayya Bibi, wife of Khushi Muhammad, was killed on the spot. Eight others were injured and taken to Civil Hospital, where doctors treating them said that condition of three was critical. Those injured were identified as Muhammad, Samina Mazhar, Muhammad Farooq, Kishwar Sultana, Samar Husain, Imran, Naureen, Ali Hassan.
Elsewhere, a man was killed in Malikwal when a motorcycle he was riding ran into a tractor-trolley.
Police saud Mumtaz Ahmed, a resident of Mudh Mor, was on his way to Rattokala village when a tractor-trolley driving into the opposite direction hit him. He got thrown several metres away.
Passers-by rushed to his rescue and took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The tractor-trolley driver fled the scene.
In Sambrial, six people were injured when a speeding car hit two motorcycles. The injured were taken to a hospital in Sialkot, where they were later reported to be out of danger.
Rescue 1122 officials said that a car hit the first motorcycle with two men riding it.
When the car driver turned to flee, he hit another motorcycle with a man and two children. The driver managed to flee.
Passers-by informed Rescue 1122 and the injured were taken to a hospital.
Those injured were identified as Iftikhar Ahmed and Zeeshan of Daska and Muhammad Rafique and his two grandchildren.
