Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) President Makhdoom Javed Hashmi said on Saturday the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) should start an indiscriminate inquiry against corrupt politicians and bureaucrats.
Addressing the Multan District Bar Council on Saturday, Hashmi accused the election commission and the NAB of being biased in dealing with Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam chief Maulana Fazalur Rehman and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leaders Mian Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif.
He also said the courts should deal with all cases on merit. He said the people of Pakistan had placed their trust in the judiciary and “if the [trust] is lost then they would seek dictators.”
Talking about the ongoing protests in Karachi against vote rigging, Hashmi said the PTI had become the fist political party to empower people.
“The PTI is set to become the ruling party. It has united people against corruption, sectarianism and ethnic divisions,” he said.
He said his party’s government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would compel the federation to follow its policies on governance.
Talking about the PML-N government-to-be, Hashmi said the PTI would be a tough opposition in the National Assembly. He said the dynastic politics in the Punjab should end.
Hashmi said in terms of big-heartedness and vision, Pakistan Peoples Party was ahead of PML-N. He said the PML-N had used and abandoned its supporters and those who sacrificed their lives for the party “like a tissue paper.”
He said he would continue to criticise politicians and would be the first one to criticise his own party if it went against its ideology.
Talking about a South Punjab province, he said his party considered new provinces vital for country’s solidarity.
