LAHORE: The first Punjab Assembly session after the elections has been summoned on May 29, where the newly elected representatives will swear in as members of the provincial assembly.
According to the constitution, the assembly session needs to be convened within 21 days, hence it was vital to call it before June 1, Secretary Punjab Assembly Maqsood Ahmed said.
A notification in this respect is expected to be issued within the next two days. On the second day of the session, the speaker, deputy speaker of the assembly and leader of the house/chief minister will be elected.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) achieved majority in the provincial assembly with 240 seats followed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), who bagged 20 seats in elections 2013.
