Consumer court: Warrants issued for 9 shop owners, doctor

The Consumer Court on Tuesday issued nine arrest warrants for proprietors of various shops and a doctor for not appearing before the court despite several notices issued previously.

Bail-able warrants were issued for the proprietors of MS Hassan and Ali Generators, BIDL UPS Advance Technology, Allah Hu Autos Workshop, Chen One, Munawar Mobile, Warsi Foam and a doctor, Professor G Akbar Sial of Ghurki Trust Teaching Hospital. Non-bail able arrest warrants were issued for proprietors of Israrul Haq and Brother Havi Neelaam Ghar and AM Marketing.

The warrants were issued on petitions seeking the implementation of orders the court had passed in favour of the petitioners.

The proprietor of MS Hassan and Ali Generators was issued a bail-able arrest warrant for May 27 in a suit seeking damages of Rs1,338,000 for selling the petitioner a faulty generator. The proprietor of BIDL UPS Advance Technology was issued a notice for June 10 on a petition seeking the implementation of a court order. The proprietor had been directed to pay the petitioner Rs116,000 for selling a faulty UPS and battery. The proprietor of Allah Hu Autos Workshop was issued a bail-able arrest warrant on a petition seeking damages of Rs1 million for cheating the petitioner by claiming that he had replaced some parts in his car.

A bail-able arrest warrant was also issued for the branch manager of Chen One Store in Phase IV, Defence Housing Authority, for June 12 in a suit seeking damages of Rs6,506,998. The petitioner claimed that the manager had sold him a shirt that did not fit him and that he had had to cancel a meeting with a foreign delegation as a result.

A bail-able arrest warrant was issued for the proprietor of Munawar Mobile for June 17 on a suit seeking damages of Rs115,000 for selling the petitioner a defective Blackberry phone.

A bail-able arrest warrant was issued for Professor Sial of Ghurki Trust Teaching Hospital for June 19 on a petition seeking the implementation of a court order. He had been directed to pay Rs25,000 to the petitioner for botching up a surgery on the petitioner’s wife.

An arrest warrant was issued for proprietor of Warsi Foam for June 26 on a suit seeking damages of Rs100,000 for selling the petitioner a defective foam mattress.

A non bail-able arrest warrant was issued for the proprietor of Israrul Haq and Brother Havi Neelam Ghar on a petition seeking the implementation of a court order. The court had directed the respondent to pay Rs15,000 to the petitioner for selling him defective furniture.

A non bail-able arrest warrant was issued for the proprietor of AM Marketing, a distributor of Nirala Dairy Pvt Ltd, for May 29 on a petition seeking the implementation of court orders. The court had directed the respondent to pay Rs38,432 to the petitioner for selling him defective Desi Ghee.
