The US Consulate General will be served a second notice on Monday if the one sent on Friday is not complied with, The Express Tribune has learnt.
The district coordination officer sent a notice to the Deputy Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday to be sent to the consulate general, giving the latter 48 hours to demolish three pillars built to construct a wall and a gate on Empress Road.
The city government said that it would serve two more notices to the consulate general through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should there be need.
US Consulate General Press Attaché Lydia Barraza had on Friday, denied receiving a notice in this regard. She said since the consulate general was closed on Saturday and Sunday, the status of the pillars would remain unchanged on Monday.
City district government officials said that they would forward a second notice to the Deputy Chief of Protocol of Foreign Affairs on Monday.
Staff Officer to DCO Tariq Zaman told The Express Tribune that the city government was following proper procedure in the matter.
He said the first notice had been sent after the city government had received a letter from the Foreign Office saying a request for a no objection certificate, to build the pillars, had been rejected.
