The funeral for Ayesha Haroon, former resident editor of The News and The Nation, will be held today (Thursday) after Zuhr prayers at 1:30 pm.
Haroon passed away in New York last Saturday night. Her body arrived in Lahore on Wednesday.
The funeral prayers will be held at the mosque near House No 78, Haroon Street, Babar Block, New Garden Town, near Barkat Market. She will be buried next to her father Syed Haroon Shah in the family quad at Miani Sahib graveyard.
The qul prayers will be held on Saturday between Asr and Maghrib at her residence.
She was 46 at the time of her death. Her husband Dr Faisal Bari, her brothers Hassan Haroon and Usman Haroon and their mother were by her side when she passed away.
Haroon started her career at the Frontier Post. She later worked at The Nation and as resident editor of The News in Lahore. She was also part of the team that planned the Waqt TV launch and trained its staff.
She was 42 when she was diagnosed with cancer. She got initial treatment in Lahore but was later taken to the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York where she went through a long process of treatment and appeared to be on her way to recovery before her condition worsened in June last year.
