FAISALABAD:

A district and sessions judge on Tuesday gave the city police officer a week to submit a report of an incident in which a woman police constable was allegedly raped by one of her colleagues and his accomplice.

The constable submitted that on July 7, Establishment Branch Inspector Nasir Abbas called her to his office on the pretext of changing her duty to the inspector general’s office. When she went to the office [in Madina Town police station’s jurisdiction], she said, Abbas and an accomplice raped her.

She said that she had filed a complaint at the Madina Town police station but they had refused to register an FIR against the inspector.

She prayed the court to direct the police to register a case against Abbas and his accomplice.

Judge Khaleequz Zaman ordered the CPO to register a case against Inspector Abbas and his accomplice and to submit a report on its progress in a week. Some officers at the Establishment Branch have been trying to settle the matter out of court.

Inspector Nasir Abbas told The Express Tribune that the constable had levelled a false allegation against him.
