FAISALABAD:

“The police and the district administration have evolved a strategy to curb crime and improve the law and order situation,” DCO Najam Ahmad Shah said on Saturday.

He was chairing a meeting reviewing the law and order situation in the city. CPO Abdul Razaq Cheema was also present.

The DCO said, “Result-oriented measures are needed for good governance. Coordination between the district administration and the police must be ensured to take prompt action in any law and order situation.”

He said, “Revenue staff and SHOs should remain vigilant in their jurisdictions and must respond immediately against land grabbers and encroachers.”

He said the police must take strict action against profiteers and water thieves. He urged police officials to eliminate gambling dens and brothels in collaboration with the district administration.

He demanded joint reports and recommendations on disputes between religious groups in the district. He assured police of full cooperation of the district administration in monitoring crime.

Cheema said, “Reconciliation committees will be constituted at police stations to address complaints.”

The incidents of kidnapping from hospitals were also discussed in the meeting.

A monument would be built at Arfa Karim’s grave to pay tribute to her services in the information technology sector.
