Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial of the Lahore High Court on Tuesday summoned the Lesco chief executive officer to explain why former CEO Muhammad Saleem had been removed after the court had asked for the criteria for the appointment of distribution company chiefs.
A counsel for the federal government told the court it had not ordered that Saleem’s removal.
Justice Bandial observed that he had been transferred on July 22, the same day the court had called for stability in senior management appointments. The transfer appeared to be a retaliation of the court order, he said. The chief justice also expressed concern over Lesco’s decision to change counsel.
The court adjourned the hearing till August 15 and directed Lesco chief Arshad Rafiq to appear in person.
