Epidemic control: 17 complaints lodged in dengue control drive

Environment Protection Agency (EPA) Director General Farooq Hameed Sheikh on Wednesday raided several areas of the city and issued directions for registering 17 FIRs after dengue mosquito larvae were found in the these places.

The larvae were found at Shah Noor Studio Custom Warehouse, Ali Sajjad Filling Station and fifteen other places.

Sheikh ordered the squad to register FIRs against the Custom Warehouse Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Afzal and directed the custom staff to remove stagnant water from the warehouse immediately. Ali Sajjad Filling Station was sealed and an FIR was lodged against its owner after dengue larvae were detected on the premises.

Later, Sheikh inspected three tyre warehouses and two junkyards on Bund Road where the squad found more dengue larvae. FIRs were registered against owners of the warehouses.

Sheikh said the environment department would continue to conduct such raids until the dengue mosquito was eliminated.

Dengue larvae were also found at Imran RCC Pipe on Burki Road, Haji Shahid Plastic Scrapyard at Bund Road, Sheikh Kabeer Ahmad’s house in Gulberg, Riazul Rehman Plaza in Model Town, Sardar Ahsan Plaza on College Road, Commercial Plaza at College Road, an Askari Bank site at Link Road, Ali Riaz Autos, at Bahawalpur Road, Chaudhry Bashir Scrapyard at Khwaja Fareed Road and Qaiser Nursery at Saggian bypass. 40-year-old diagnosed with dengue fever

Meanwhile, a man was diagnosed with dengue fever. Khurruam Ahmad, 40, was admitted to Mayo Hospital. Doctors confirmed that he had contracted dengue fever. The number of dengue patients reported in the city this season has reached 16.
