The anti-dengue squads of the Environment Protection Department have inspected dozens of sites in the city over the last month and had 70 cases registered against junkyards, tyre shops, nursery owners and construction site managers for failing to take measures to eliminate dengue mosquito larvae.
The EPD teams, led by Environment Secretary Anwar Rasheed, inspected three sites on Ferozepur Road on Tuesday and had cases registered against Wapda Hospital, Ittefaq auto workshop and Rang Sang paint company after dengue larvae were found there. Officials also inspected various tyre shops at Naulakha market and met with the Naulakha tyre association.
The EPD has set up nine teams to conduct inspections for dengue mosquito larvae. Rasheed said that the department had been using all its resources to combat dengue fever.
