Additional District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Ghulam Murtaza on Wednesday directed the SHO concerned to produce prosecution witnesses for September 5 against Sawan Masih who was accused of blasphemy leading to the Joseph Colony arson and rioting earlier this year.
The judge then adjourned the jail trial proceedings.
Shahid Imran had stated in the FIR that he had been out for a walk early in the morning with his neighbour Muhammad Shafique. He said that they had been talking to each other when Sawan Masih appeared and used derogatory language against Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Imran said that they warned him not to use such language but Sawan Masih did not stop. He said Sawan Masih fled when they tried to detain him. Imran had filed the complaint at Badami Bagh police station under Section 295/C of the Pakistan Penal Code.
