LAHORE:

The Educators school on Thursday signed an MOU with the World Wide Fund for Nature–Pakistan (WWF-Pakistan) to spread environmental education through a Spellathon and Eco-Internship programmes.

The Spellathon is a country-wide spelling competition for students from grades 1 to 9. It aims to create awareness about various environmental issues through stories and spelling tests.

The programme will train 30,000 to 40,000 students from The Educators over the next three years. More than 125,000 students in the country will participate in the Spellathon.

As many as 500 students from The Educators will take part in the Eco-Internship programme and attend a six day-long training.

This will provide students an opportunity to be affiliated with a global organisation and create a genuine sense of civic responsibility.

The Educators’ alliance with WWF-Pakistan’s Eco-Internship programme aims to raise awareness and understanding for the need to conserve, protect and manage Pakistan’s natural resources.

It will provide students an insight into the environmental dynamics of Pakistan, as well as challenges and solutions for environmental conservation.
