Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Additional Director General Muhammad Rajoana on Sunday said teams would be responsible for maintaining cleanliness in the city.
Talking to newsmen, Rajoana said residents of katchi abadis (squatter settlements) and slums threw garbage in open spaces near their homes.
He said this could create dengue breeding sites.
He said FDA teams would inspect Madina Town, Millat Town, Gulberg, Gulfishan Colony, Allama Iqbal Colony, Sir Syed Town, Nazimabad, Gulshan Colony and adjacent areas and remove stagnant water from open sites and garbage heaps.
Rajoana said the FDA would distribute pamphlets among general public to create awareness about the dengue virus.
He said the deputy directors had been directed to monitor the performance of FDA teams.
He appealed to the public to cooperate in efforts to eliminate dengue.
“People should not dump waste and garbage at open places. Stagnant water from air coolers, old tyres and roofs should also be removed at the earliest,” he added.
