Senator Pervaiz Rashid has said that a date for general elections must be announced before the caretaker setup.
While speaking with the media at Raiwind, Rashid said that after a date was announced, the government should announce the name of the caretaker prime minister in accordance with the Constitution and after consultation between the leader of the opposition and leader of the house. He said this was a requirement of the Constitution.
On a question whether Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz had any objections to consulting political parties not represented in the parliament, he said that PML-N believes in consultation. He said the leader of the opposition Chaudhry Nisar had consulted political parties that were not part of the parliament during the process of nominating members of the Election Commission. He said the leader of opposition would carry out a similar consultation when names for caretaker government would be proposed, the consultations would be made with all political parties which are taking part in the general elections.
Rashid said that Nawaz Sharif was not consulted on the promulgation of Governor’s Rule in Balochistan. He said that the impact of Governor’s Rule would be observed. He said they neither supported nor opposed Governor Rule’s in Balochistan.
