Police on Sunday claimed to have busted 46 gangs and arrested 132 criminals wanted in 107 cases in August.
Police said that Rs4.7 million had been recovered from those arrested. As many as 414 cases were registered against 415 people during the month. Police said that two Kalashnikovs, 16 rifles, 28 guns, 347 revolvers and pistols, seven daggers and 1,972 bullets were seized. In the crackdown against drug dealers, 370 cases were registered, 388 people were arrested and nine kilograms of heroin, 71kg charas, three kg opium and 3,541 bottles of liquor were confiscated from them.
More than 89 cases were registered against gamblers and 331 gamblers were arrested. Around 1,108 proclaimed offenders and 869 absconders were also arrested. Operations DIG Muhammad Tahir Rai directed police to utilise all their resources to end crime in the city.
