Pass percentage in the intermediate examination of the Lahore board was 61 per cent this year, a five percent jump from last year.
The results were officially made available on the website of the Lahore BISE by MNA Hamza Shahbaz who was the chief guest at a ceremony on Monday to honour top students.
At 10:10am the results were up on the internet.
Examinations Controller Anwar Farooq said that as many as 136,076 students applied for the intermediate exams and 132,873 students had actually taken the exams.
Out of these, 81,258 students passed the exam.
Later, position holders were awarded medals and certificates for their scores in the exam. An almost equal number of boys and girls appeared in the exam.
For girls the pass percentage was 70.6 per cent; for boys it stood at 51.5 per cent.
In pre-medical group, the total pass percentage was 86.86 per cent, with 88.7 per cent for girls and 81.9 per cent for boys. In pre-engineering group, the pass percentage stood at 81.48 per cent, 79.99 per cent for boys and 86.49 per cent for girls.
In general science group, the pass percentage was 61.3 per cent, 51.65 per cent for boys and 72 per cent for girls.
The pass percentage in commerce group was 66.2 per cent, 81 per cent for girls and 57 percent for boys. In humanities group, the pass percentage was 48.4 per cent, 61 per cent for girls and 30 per cent for boys. Speaking at the occasion, BISE Chairman Nasrullah Virk said the results were announced by the board according as scheduled.
He said the board was working on updating its online system to facilitate the candidates.
The results are available on the boards’ website and can also be accessed through the BISE SMS service by sending roll numbers to 80029.
