LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court on Tuesday sought a reply from the federal government to a petition demanding that utility stores be set up in the Walled City.
The petitioner, Anjuman-i-Shahrian Lahore, argued that the government’s failure to set up utility stores, where goods are available at cheaper rates, in the Walled City was tantamount to discrimination.
The court remarked that the government should explain why there were no utility stores in the old city. The court also asked an additional attorney general to assist the court on October 1 after seeking instruction from the quarters concerned.
