A man was shot dead on Saturday when he resisted robbers in Faisalabad.
Police said the deceased, Wajid Nawaz, 22, a resident of Khurarianwala, was on his way home on a motorcycle when he was stopped by unidentified men near Shehri Wala Mor at Sheikhupura Road.
Police said the men took away Nawaz’s cash, mobile phone and motorcycle. Police said when Wajid resisted they shot him.
Wajid was taken to Allied Hospital, Faisalabad where he later succumbed to his injuries, police said.
Later, the relatives and family members of the deceased staged a protest demonstration alleging that the Khurarianwala police were responsible for Nawaz’s death.
Muhammad Hussain, a relative of the deceased, told the media that he had informed the police about the incident soon after Nawaz was shot.
“The police did not reach the crime scene on time…they could have chased and arrested the robbers,” he said.
“Instead they got there three hours after he was shot,” he said.
The Khurarianwala SHO told The Express Tribune that a police team had been constituted to arrest the suspects. “Police will arrest them within 24 hours,” he said.
