The Punjab Public Service Commission has cancelled its written examinations for the post of legal inspector (BPS-16) earlier scheduled to begin on Monday (today), a statement issued on Sunday said. The examinations were to be given in Multan, Lahore and Rawalpindi simultaneously.
The decision had been taken in view of the security situation in Rawalpindi and Multan, the statement said. New dates will be announced soon.
As many as 4,286 candidates would sit the examination for 376 seats. Of these, 709 belong to south Punjab and 304 are from Rawalpindi.
Initially scheduled for June 26, the examinations had earlier been cancelled after candidates had protested giving the examination in Lahore only. An LHC bench then ordered the commission to give the examinations in Multan and Rawalpindi as well.
Muhammad Shabbir, the PPSC regional head, told The Express Tribune that interviews for the post of assistant research officer, senior headmistress and junior patrolling officer for Highway Police will be conducted in Lahore only on Monday (today) as per schedule.
