Some 200 students participated in a quiz arranged by the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) at the Trust School System on Thursday as part of its Youth Tourism Awareness Programme.
TDCP officials made presentations on Pakistan’s cultural history as well as global tourism to the class 9 and 10 students prior to the quiz.
Sarah Qureshi, the manager of the Youth Affairs Programme, said the Punjab was home to ancient civilisations and a number of religions. She said that there were numerous Mughal forts, tombs and monuments in the Punjab. Of the six sites categorised as World Heritage Sites by Unesco, three are in the Punjab, she said.
Qureshi added that Mughal architecture was influenced by the Indian, Islamic, Timurid and European styles of architecture.
