The Lahore High Court has approved a Rs4.7 million allocation for the construction of a bar room at a local court in Kalor Kot, Bhakkar, District and Sessions Judge Justice Abdul Ghaffar Jalil informed a meeting of the District Bar Association in Bhakkar on Monday.
He said the funds had been approved on the demand of the Bhakkar District Bar Association.
There are three sub district bars in the district. These are the Kalor Kot Sub District Bar, the Mankera Sub District Bar and the Darya Khan Sub District Bar. As many as 700 lawyers are registered in these bars.
The judge informed the meeting that he had ordered the local administration in Mankera to provide land for the bar room. The land had been approved for the bar room a few months ago.
Darya Khan Bar secretary Muhammad Saleem Kharal welcomed the LHC chief justice’s orders.
Talking to The Express Tribune, he said that lawyers from Darya Khan had also been demanding land for a civil court and a bar room. He said the government should also allocate land and funds for a civil court and a bar room in Darya Khan.
He said lawyers in Darya Khan had been appearing before a civil court housed temporarily in a government rest house.
Earlier, the judge assured lawyers from Darya Khan that their problems would also be resolved. He said they were expected to cooperate with the judiciary in the district.
The judge also chaired a meeting of a committee formed to monitor progress of cases filed under the Anti Corruption Act. He said he was satisfied that complainants were getting relief.
