Three people riding a motorcycle were run over by a tractor-trolley on Friday in Khanewal’s Kabeerwala tehsil. Police said two of them were relatives.
Police said Muhammad Iqbal, 25, his nephew Sajid, 17, and their neighbour Qadir Bakhsh, 70, were riding a motorcycle on Multan Road when Iqbal stopped to answer a call on this cell phone.
They said a tractor-trolley that failed to apply brakes, ran over them. The driver fled.
Some passers-by rushed to their rescue, but they were already dead.
A case has been registered with Saddar police.
Students, rickshaw drivers injured
Seven people, including five students, were injured on Friday in a collision between a rickshaw and a car in the Ata Shaheed area. Rescue officials said the rickshaw carrying students was headed to Chak 110-SB after school time when it ran into a car near Chak 46-SB. Five students, identified as Zarqa, Tayyab, Zaryab, Abbia, Anum and drivers Anser Iqbal and Javed Iqbal, were injured.
They were taken to district headquarters hospital, where they were reported to be out of danger.
