FAISALABAD:

A traffic warden was arrested on charge of theft on Tuesday after Gulberg police recovered a stolen motorcycle from him.

Police said a citizen, Muhammad Khalid. He said that traffic warden Nazim Kamran and a man in plain clothes had picked his motorcycle from outside his house without giving him a reason. He said he visited the point where all lifted vehicles from the area were parked. He said Kamran was not there. He said he was told that his motorcycle had not been brought there.

During investigation, police said, they discovered that the motorcycle was in Kamran’s custody. Police said the warden and his accomplice were arrested and Khalid’s motorcycle recovered.

They said they also recovered two more motorcycles from the warden’s custody. One of these was a government-owned motorcycle that Kamran had lifted from the Old GTS Adda near Ghulam Muhammadabad over “wrong parking”.

Chief Traffic Officer Imran Kishwar told The Express Tribune that the traffic warden had denied the allegation. He said he had purchased the motorcycle from Khalid. The CTO said that Kamran had been suspended from service and an departmental inquiry had been ordered against him.
