A man was beaten up and his head, moustache and eyebrows shaved allegedly by five men, including his brother-in-law, here on Tuesday.
Police said the men had had a dispute. They said Munir Ahmad’s sister Dilshaad Bibi, resident of Chak 143 in Abbasia near Liaqatpur, was married to Mulazim Hussain. They had two children.
They said Hussain had recently accepted Ahmad’s proposal for his sister Jannat Bibi. The nikah had been performed, while the wedding had yet to be organised
However, they said, Hussain and Ahmad developed some differences over a dispute after which Hussain had refused to marry his sister to Ahmad.
On Tuesday, police said Ahmad and his father visited Hussain’s house to ask him to arrange the wedding ceremony. An argument started between them when Hussain told Ahmad to leave and he refused.
Hussain called his friends Abdur Rehman, Mashooq Ali, Aashiq Hussain and Ghulam Hussain and they attacked Ahmad. They tied him to a charpoy and shaved his head, moustache and eyebrows. They then threw him and his father out of the house.
Ahmad’s father, who later filed a complaint with the police, said that he begged the men to let Ahmad go but they threatened to beat him as well.
He said Hussain had been delayed his sister’s marriage for several weeks. He said we had asked him to settle the dispute, but he refused.
Police said they had started the investigation. He said none of the men nominated by the complainant had been arrested yet.
