Madina Town police have registered a complaint against four men for allegedly beating up a housemaid and trying to kill her.
Police said complainant Rubina Maqsood, 26, a resident of Chak 423-GB, said that she had worked at Sheikh Danish’s house in Canal Colony.
She alleged that Danish had stopped her from meeting her family. She said when this became too much, she asked to be let go. Thereafter, she said, he started beating her up “over small mistakes.” She said he would tie her with a rope at night to stop her from leaving.
She said one night, when she protested, he and his accomplices including the general manager of his textile export firm, beat her and threw her down from the second storey.
She said when she came to, she found her self at the Allied Hospital’s orthopedic ward. She was discharged a few days later.
Shakeel Ahmad, a relative who accompanied her to the hospital, told The Express Tribune that some neighbours had informed her family when she was thrown and fainted. He said by the time they arrived at the house, Danish and his men had fled.
Police said they had recorded Danish’s statement and he had denied the allegations.
Danish’s counsel said that the complainant had either fallen from the second storey accidentally or jumped on her own. He said his client had definitely not pushed her since he was not even home when the accident happened.
