Humanity can be saved from destruction if teachings of the Holy Prophet Peace Be Upon Him (PBUH) are acted upon. This was the gist of a talk organised by Pakistan Intellectual Forum (PIF) here Monday.

In the meanwhile security and rescue agencies met and finalised security plan for the twin cities.

Speaking at the talk, noted researcher Prof Bhajandas said humanity, social justice and peace is the core of the teachings of the prophet of Islam.   He said, “The Prophet’s (PBUH) life and teachings are the best source to understand Islam.”

Exhorting Muslims in the troubled Pakistani society Bhajandas said, “The prophet of Islam forgave his sworn enemies and showed patience when he was harmed by others.”

“From my readings, I have concluded that the Islam has nothing to do with terrorism,” he added.  PIF Chairman Hashim Abro said the prophet established the rights of the people when those were being usurped, administered justice when tyranny was rampant, introduced equality when undue discrimination was common and gave freedom to the people when they were groaning under oppression and injustice.

He said his last sermon known as “Khutba Hajjatul Wida” can serve as a basis for creating a caring society in Pakistan where bloodshed of innocent people has become the order of the day.

Security arrangements

Meanwhile, arrangements for providing security to the Eid Miladun Nabi processions were reviewed by the Ministry of Interior.

It has directed the administration and police to take precautionary measures to ensure safety of life and property by coordinating with their counterparts in Rawalpindi.

Rescue 1122 Punjab Emergency Service Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer said that in Rawalpindi more than 400 rescuers will remain at the District Control Room with 14 fully equipped ambulances, 12 fire trucks, and three rescue and recovery vehicles besides four special mobile posts to provide medical cover to the processions.

Rescue posts will be established at Committee Chowk, Banni Chowk, Raja Bazaar and Choungi no 22.
