Lahore High Court on Saturday took notice of five reports of crime in the city. The cell directed a sessions judge to submit a report on steps taken by the police in each case.
Muhammad Yousaf from Tariqabad, a 65-year-old watchman, had been on duty at Major (r) Rashid’s farm when six robbers entered the premises. They tied up Yousaf and tried to steal expensive birds kept at the farm. Due to the noise made by the birds, they managed to steal a few pheasants and parrots. The birds were worth Rs800,000. Yousaf who had been gagged died from suffocation.
A 36-year-old woman, Styla Faiz, was found strangled at her house in Nishtar Colony. Her husband Arif Masih discovered the body. He said Rs8,000, two gold earrings and a ring were missing from the house. Police said he suspected that his wife had been killed for resisting a robbery.
A man and his female accomplice, who was wearing a burqa, took away Rs250,000 from a pharmacy in Saddar.
A 32-year-old factory worker, Kaleem, died from poisoned food. He died soon after being taken to Jinnah Hospital after he fainted. Some family members of the deceased have accused his wife.
A woman was found dead in Karol village. Police dispatched the body for an autopsy. The deceased has yet to be identified. Police said they found torture marks on the body.
