An eight-year-old was reportedly raped and abandoned near her house on Tuesday, police said.
The family have named a relative as the suspect. Police said the girl was picked from her house in Ram village near Rahim Yar Khan by a relative, who apparently raped her and later killed her. He then threw the body near her house and fled.
Police believe that there were at least two more men involved in the crime. An FIR was registered with Shidani police on the complaint of the child’s father.
Bahawalpur RPO Shahid Hanif, Rahim Yar Khan District Police Officer Sohail Zafar Chattha, Liaqatpur DSP Malik Tanveer Ahmad and Station House Officer Muhammad Muslim Zia visited the bereaved family at their house and assured them that the criminals will soon be arrested. This was the second rape incident in the district in the last week after another eight-year-old was killed after rape. Several families gathered in front of the DPO’s office on Tuesday and demanded that the area be provided more security.
