A consumer court issued a notice to a shopkeeper on Wednesday in a suit seeking Rs200,000 damages for selling allegedly defective furniture.
Muhammad Altaf told the court he had purchased furniture for Rs190,000 for his sister from Mubashir Furniture at Mozang Road.
He said he had later discovered that that the furniture was of poor quality wood. He said the wood polish started fading.
He told the court that he complained to the respondent who refused to replace the furniture or return his money.
He asked the court to direct the respondent to pay damages for selling defective furniture and for the mental agony he had suffered.
Mubashir told The Express Tribune that he had not sold defective furniture.
He said he had asked Altaf to bring the furniture to his shop but he refused. He said he was willing to replace the furniture once he was shown the faults.
