As many as 11,920 people participated in various competitions on the second day of the Punjab Youth Festival district games on Thursday.
As many as 9,202 people moved to the next round.
A tennis tape ball cricket game was held at Iqbal Town. Gulberg Town defeated Aziz Bhatti Town and Shalimar Town beat Lahore Cantt.
As many as 1,836 people took in PYF events in Kasur, Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib and 326 moved to the next round.
In Chakwal, Attock and Jhelum 503 people competed and 103 won.
In Sargodha, as many as 1,853 athletes of Bhakkar, Khushab and Mianwali districts turned up for the PYF contests and 521 returned victorious.
As many as 2,538 people from Hafizabad, Sialkot, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat and Narowal participated and events and 135 moved to the next round.
In Faisalabad, 1,603 athletes of Jhang, Toba Tek Singh and Chiniot districts demonstrated their skills and 75 were adjudged winners.
As many as 136 players of Okara and Pakpattan districts of Sahiwal division took part in various PYF events and 68 moved to the next round.
In Multan, 541 players of Vehari, Lodhran and Khanewal districts participated and 231 moved to the next round.
As many as 264 participants of Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan districts of Bahawalpur division competed and 118 were declared winners.
A total of 146 contestants out of 446 competitors moved to the next round from Rajanpur, Layyah and Muzaffargarh.
Hairdresser’s challenge
Sadiq Ali, a hair dresser from Lahore, has said he can break the Guinness World Record set by an Israeli hairdresser.
Sadiq displayed his skill in front of Sports Director General Usman. He used several pairs of scissors to cut a person’s hair.
The director general praised Sadiq’s skill.”The youngster has exceptional talent and his name will be sent to officials of the Guinness World Record and after approval from them, he can attempt to set a new world record,” he said.
Talking to newsmen, Sadiq said some barbers from Israel and China had used 10 small scissors.
He said he would set a new record by using more scissors.
Kabaddi contest
PCSIR Phase II beat PCSIR phase I in kabaddi at the Punjab Youth Festival Cooperative Housing Societies competitions on Thursday.
Wapda Employees Cooperative Society won the tug of war contest, Larex beat Iqbal Avenue by 4-1 in the football game.
Wapda Society beat Iqbal Avenue in the arm-wrestling event.Divisional Sports Convener Mian Naseer Ahmad was the chief guest. He distributed prizes among winners. He said the PYF was an excellent opportunity for the youth to demonstrate their skills. He said more such events should be held.
