A man turned himself in on Monday after strangling his wife and throwing the body off the roof of their house in Vehari, police said.
They said Muhammad Asif, a resident of Tibba Sultanpur, visited the police station and told police that he had killed his wife. They said he was detained, and a police team visited his house to investigate. They found the body lying on the floor.
Police said the man told them he had suspected her of loose morals.
Station House Officer Ghulam Abbas Bukhari said an FIR had been registered against Asif.
The couple had a son.
Man kills wife, hangs body from tree
A woman was killed allegedly by her husband, who later tried to make it look like a suicide by hanging the body from a tree near their house.
Police quoted the woman’s uncle, Abdullah, as saying that he and two of his relatives had gone to visit his niece in Chak 235-P on Monday. When they approached her house, he said, they saw her body hanging from a tree.
He said her husband Noor Hassan and his brothers were standing next to it, but ran away on seeing him and his relatives. He said they untied the body and informed the police, who sent it for an autopsy. Doctors said the woman had been killed.
An FIR was registered against Hassan, his brothers Abdullah Jaffar Ali and Muhammad Yousaf and one of their friends, with Abdullah as the complainant. He said Hassan had often been abusive towards his niece. His brothers, too, he said would beat her.
Police said they were looking for the suspects.
Man kills niece
In Sargodha, a man shot his niece dead following an argument over a marriage proposal.
Police said Muhammad Arshad, a resident of Chak 155 in Shah Nakdar, had wanted his niece to marry his son. However, she had refused to marry him.
On Monday, police said, the uncle visited her along with his friends Maratab Ali and Muhammad Shehbaz. On finding her alone, the three men shot her, killing her on the spot.
An FIR was registered with Shah Nakdar police by the brother of the deceased, who said he was home when his uncle arrived, but had left later.
Police said they were looking for the suspects.
