An additional district and sessions judge on Saturday fixed February 26 to pass judgement on the pre-arrest bail petition of a Lahore General Hospital employee accused of raping a woman who had visited him to get her son X-rayed. The petitioner told the court that she had not nominated him in the FIR.
According to the FIR registered at the Kot Lakhpat police station, Sakina Bibi visited the Lahore General Hospital last week for her son’s treatment. The doctor told her to get her son X-rayed. She said Faisal, the X-ray operator, told her the machine was not working and told her he would take her to the nearest clinic to get the X-ray done. She said instead he took her and her son to a flat where he raped her.
On Saturday, Faisal and Sakina Bibi appeared in court. The judge told them that he could not record her statement as he had already adjourned the hearing till February 26. However, she submitted an application before the district and sessions court to direct the relevant judge to record her statement on Saturday. The application was accepted and she told the court that she did not want to pursue the case further and that she had no objections if Faisal was granted bail. Faisal has said he is innocent.
