MULTAN: Multan will soon have a spacious cafe for intellectuals, poets and writers along the lines of Pak Tea House in Lahore.
Talking to reporters on Wednesday, District Coordination Officer Zahid Saleem Gondal said that the cafe was being set up to promote literary activities in the city. He said the land had been provided by the Multan Arts Council on its premises.
He said the cafe will be housed in a two-storey building. It will be named Multan Tea House.
The ground floor would serve as a cafe, while literary events and discussions will be held at the upper floor.
The DCO said a city having a history going back to as many as 5,000 years deserved a facility that could serve as a platform for the budding literati.
He said the chief minister was committed to welfare of poets and writers. This cafe, he said, was one of the initiatives to promote literary activities.
