Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday assured a Faisalabad Bar Association (FBA) delegation that that a Lahore High Court bench will soon be setup in Faisalabad, FBA president Mian Javaid Iqbal told The Express Tribune.
A summary in this regard was sent to the chief minister last week. The CM is expected to take action on it by February 28.
On Tuesday, the CM met a 22-member lawyers delegation, led by Iqbal. Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan, MNA Abid Sher Ali and PML-N Faisalabad president Sheikh Ejaz Ahmad were also present.
Iqbal said the meeting with the CM was successful. However, he said, the lawyers would continue their protest until the bench was set up. He said that LHC Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial had supported them.
After the meeting, the protesting lawyers resumed their protest and forced revenue officers, tehsildars and patwaris to close their offices.
