SIALKOT:

Residents of the area have demanded that the government improve condition at the Government Girls High School.

Talking to a media team which visited the school on Tuesday, Mian Mohammad Aslam, Mian Sabir Hussain and Mian Naeem said the primary section building was dilapidated. They said they could not afford private schools’ fees and had to send their children to the government school. They said there was no furniture in the school classrooms and its toilets needed repairs.

Chaudhry Tauqeer Ahmed and Mehr Muddassir said their children were requesting them to send them to some other school which they could not do. They said some political leaders had raised the slogan of “Parha Likha Punjab” and others had said nicer things, but nobody had done anything to promote functional schools.

They said there were no chairs in the school even for teachers and no fans in classrooms. They said the windowpanes of classrooms were broken and there was no security guard. They appealed to the chief minister, the education secretary and the DCO to look into the matter.
