The Lahore Waste Management Company has announced that it will install separate plants for the processing and management of hospital and construction waste in the city. This was decided at the 29th meeting of the LWMC’s Board of Directors headed by Khawaja Ahmad Hassaan.
The LWMC is working on drafting a code of conduct regarding the disposal of construction and demolition waste in the city and “strict measures would be taken against violators”. The fee for the disposal of construction and demolition waste is yet to be determined.
A plant to process hospital waste will also be installed at Lakhodair. The LWMC will manage the waste of public and private hospitals in the city. The LWMC board of directors approved the hiring of a company for third-party monitoring and evaluation of the procurement of machinery for operations of sanitary landfill site and to ensure 33 per cent representation of women on the board.
