LAHORE:

Five of a family were shot dead over land in Harbanspura on Tuesday night.

Police said Muhammad Ejaz, a resident of Harbanspura, had had a land dispute with his sister Saira and brother-in-law Jahangir. Cantt SP Sarfaraz Virk told The Express Tribune that the house was occupied by Saira and her brothers wanted a share in it. They had called a family meeting to resolve the matter on Tuesday. The Harbanspura police investigation officer said there was an exchange of harsh words at the meeting and Jahangir and some of his friends shot at Ejaz’s father-in-law Muhammad Umar and three of his sons, Ali Raza, Muhammad Akram and Rafaqat Ali died on the spot. Jahangir was injured and taken to Services Hospital where he later succumbed to his wounds. Ejaz has filed a complaint against Saira, their brother Shahbaz and two henchmen, Hamza and Yousaf. The bodies were taken to a mortuary for post-mortem examination before being handed over to the families for burial. Police have arrested Hamza, Shahbaz and Saira and are looking for Yousaf, the investigation officer said.
