An additional district and sessions judge on Wednesday sought comments from Qila Gujjar Singh SHO on a petition by a general manager of a cinema seeking action against an SSP for destroying the cinema’s hoarding and posters.
Qaiser Sanaullah Khan, general manager of Metropole cinema, said Investigation SSP Abdul Rab had destroyed the cinema’s signboards, claiming the pictures of actresses distracted him from worship. He had also threatened to shutdown the cinema. He said he had displayed signs and posters on the cinema premises for promotion of movies. He said he had been running the cinema for 40 years and there had been no complaints. He said last week, the SSP directed his security staff to destroy the posters. He said four police officials entered the cinema and tore off all posters. He said the SSP had no legal justification for his actions. He asked the court to direct the SSP to not interfere in his business.
