BHAKKAR:

Executive District Officer (Education) Syed Muhammad Waheeduddin issued show cause notices to school principals and officials who did not turn up in the monthly meeting on Wednesday.

He was presiding over the meeting held at the Government Model School to discuss the chief minister’s roadmap under the Punjab Education Sector Reforms Programme (PESRP). He said disciplinary action would be taken against officials who did not attend the meeting.

The EDO informed the participants that two more indicators had been added to the PESRP CM’s roadmap.

These, he said, were school uniform requirement and disallowing conversion of classrooms into storerooms. He said implementation of the policy would also be verified by education officers in future inspection visits. Schools, he said, would be ranked for meeting policy guidelines on all indicators.

The EDO said that principals and teachers should ensure cleanliness on their school premises. He directed all principals to get the school buildings white-washed. He urged school administrations to request books and stationery from the Education Department warehouses before the beginning of the new academic year in March. Principals of schools that order more stationery than that required would be held accountable, he said.

He said there had been reports of students passing the grades 7, 8 and 9 examinations not being promoted. Officials should ensure that all students who pass are promoted.
