LAHORE:

An additional district and sessions judge on Saturday fixed March 31 for hearing arguments on a pre-arrest bail application filed by a doctor accused of performing an illegal kidney transplant operation.

The complainant’s father had alleged that the doctor had killed his son and paid a man to bury the body.

At a previous hearing, the judge had granted him ad-interim bail against Rs50,000 bonds and directed him to join the police investigation.

On Saturday, the petitioner, Dr Fawwad, sought adjournment on the plea that his counsel was not available. He also said he had visited the police station to see the investigation officer but he did not allow him to join him. The judge directed the investigation officer to let Fawwad join the investigation.

Investigation wing head constable Muhammad Akbar told The Express Tribune that Fawwad had not visited the police station.

“The man is lying. There is no record of him visiting the station or asking to assist the police,” he said.
