The Post Graduate Medical Institute will hold its first alumni conference in the third week of April, marking 40 years of its establishment. PGMI alumni abroad will also be invited to the conference.
PGMI Principal Anjum Habib Vohra announced this on Saturday. He said the PGMI had become one of the country’s premier medical organisations.
“Countless senior and junior doctors serving in basic health units, medical colleges and hospitals have passed through this esteemed institute.” He said the conference would be held at the PGMI on its 40th foundation day.
He said an organising committee headed by Prof Tariq Feroz Khawaja had been constituted in this regard. Other members of the committee are Prof Gias-un-Nabi Tayab, Prof Ahmad Sulman Waris, Prof Ihtishamud Din Qureshi, Prof Sadia Chiragh, Prof Muneeza Saeed and Prof Fouzia Farzana.
Vohra said the conference would include discussions on various diseases and their treatment and the PGMI’s role in medical education.
He said the PGMI and the Lahore General Hospital had played a leading role during the drive against dengue fever.
