A 34-member delegation of the Energy Planning Working Group of China met Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday.
The meeting decided to expedite energy and transport projects being undertaken with the cooperation of Chinese companies.
The delegation was led by National Energy Administration administrator Zhang Yuqing and included senior officials of the coal department, research institutes, Exim Bank, China Development Bank and investment companies of the Chinese energy sector.
The chief minister said the Chinese investment package of $32 billion would help the government set up energy projects to produce 20,000 megawatts. He said sites for coal power plants of 10,000 megawatts in the Punjab and solar power plants of 1,000 megawatts had been identified. He said the Punjab government was finalising an agreement for a solar power project of 100 megawatt and the agreement would be signed in the next few days.
Lawmakers call on CM
Members of the national and provincial assembly and leaders of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz on Wednesday called on Sharif.
They included MNA Najaf Abbas Sial, MNA Arif Chaudhary, MPA Oan Abbas, MPA Rana Jameel Hassan Khan, Rana Ikram Rabbani and Ansar Mehmood.
Development projects and other important matters were discussed during the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said the government would come up to the expectations of people and put the country on the road to progress and development.
He asked elected representatives and PML-N leaders to keep a close contact with people and to spare no effort for solution of their problems.
