LAHORE:

An additional district and sessions judge on Thursday granted bail to three people accused of violating the wedding curfew.

Muhammad Shahid, Abdullah and Saeed were granted bails against Rs50,000 bail bonds.

Police had raided Akmal’s wedding following reports that it had gone past the 10pm curfew. Three people were arrested and cases were registered against them under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Meanwhile, an additional district and session judge fixed the next date for arguments in a petition filed by test cricketer Umar Akmal seeking a case against a traffic warden who allegedly beat him.

Akmal said he was driving to Gulberg for a practice session when he was stopped by traffic warden Zeeshan as he drove past a traffic signal.

He said traffic warden accused him of driving through a red light.

He said an argument ensued and the warden pulled him out of his vehicle and beat him.

The warden also registered a case against Akmal in February for allegedly interfering in state matters, speeding and threatening a government official. The matter had apparently been resolved amicably after Akmal’s father tendered an apology to the warden which was accepted.
