The Sports Board Punjab (SBP) and Pakistan Kabaddi Federation (PKF) on Saturday set up a training camp for the national kabaddi team.
The camp in Faisalabad would prepare the team for the second phase of the Punjab International Sports Festival (PISF), to be held in September.
The team will also feature in a four-nation kabaddi tournament in the United States in July.
Top 25 kabaddi players, including Babar Wasim Gujjar (captain), Mohsin Naseer, Khalid Mehr, Ramazan Jani, Amir Ismail, Rashid Ismail and Lala Obaidullah, are training at the camp.
SBP Assistant Director Waqas Akbar inspected the camp and praised players for working hard. Akbar told the media 12 teams would participate in the PISF.
“The second round of camp will be arranged in Lahore,” he said.
SBP Director General Usman Anwar said, “Our efforts for the promotion of sports have started bearing fruits as Pakistan team has been invited by several international kabaddi federations to take part in their events.”
“We will continue to extend our support to other sports associations as well.”
