LAHORE: The Young Doctors’ Association has filed an intra-court appeal before the Lahore High Court challenging a single bench’s order, allowing the government to acquire two kanals and 11 marlas of Lady Willingdon Hospital land to construct a signal-free junction at Azadi Chowk.
It has asked the court to set aside the order in public interest.
The petition said the hospital was a historical monument and no part of it could be demolished. It said the hospital’s demolition was in violation of several articles of the Constitution, and provisions of the Walled City Act 2012, Antiquities Act 1975, and Punjab Special Premises Preservations 1985. The appeal will be heard by a division bench next week.
