LAHORE:

Justice Manzoor Ahmed Malik of Lahore High Court on Monday directed the Services Hospital medical superintendent to constitute a medical board to check the mental capacity of petitioner Eng Abraiz Naeem, who apparently escaped from a mental institution and has accused his wife of trying to kill him to grab his property.

The judge issued the order after recording Naeem’s mother’s statement on the petition. She told the court that her son had a psychiatric disorder and the family had taken him to an institution for medical treatment. She said Naeem escaped from the mental institution with the help of some of his friends and was now trying to malign his in-laws and wife by accusing them of trying to snatch his property.

The judge then ordered a medical check up of the petitioner and sought a report in one week.

The petitioner had stated that his former wife and two of his uncles had been trying to get doctors to declare him mentally unstable in order to snatch his property worth millions of rupees.

He said a few days ago, his ex-wife Salma and two of his uncles, Khalilur Rehman and Fazalur Rehman, had kidnapped him at gunpoint. He said they took him to a psychiatric hospital where they got him admitted in connivance with two doctors there. He said the doctors had administered injections to drug him. Naeem alleged that the doctors had assured his wife and uncles that he would turn completely insane in two weeks’ time. He said he heard their conversation and managed to flee the hospital after two days with help from a few hospital employees. He said he went to his spiritual guide, Syed Hamid Ali Shah, of Silsila Saifia.

He said when he escaped the hospital administration filed a complaint with the Shadman police against his friends accusing them of kidnapping him.

He said that he did not have a child of his own but his wife had a son from her previous marriage. He said she had wanted to grab all of his property, including his house and a stitching unit worth millions of rupees by transferring their ownership to her son.

He said he had divorced his wife after he escaped. He said the Township assistant superintendent had taken a huge bribe from his wife and uncles. He said he also had surveillance camera footage which showed the ASP giving them undue favour. He said his wife and two uncles wanted to kill him to snatch his property.

He sought quashment of the FIR registered against his friends.
