LAHORE:

A special court on Tuesday directed the FIA to wrap up its investigation into Amer Ahmad, the former Chicago comptroller who is currently in Camp Jail Lahore following his arrest on April 30.

Special Judge Central Abdul Rasheed ordered the FIA to complete the investigation by June 7.

Ahmad admitted before the court that he possessed a false identity card and birth certificates, made in collaboration with officials from the involved departments.

Ahmad’s lawyer, Shakeel Ahmad Bhatti, requested the court to grant post-arrest bail, but the FIA opposed the application, saying the investigation was still incomplwzete.

UC Secretary Syed Tajamul Zaidi, who issued the fake birth certificate, also requested post-arrest bail.

FIA director in Punjab Dr Usmam Anwar told The Express Tribune that an incomplete (interim) challan has been submitted before the court against Ahmad and Zaidi.
